In Densetsu no Starfy 2, Old Man Mechani is found in [[Gluglug Lagoon]] (Stage 2-3). The upgraded version unlocks extra secret levels in certain stages in addition to the ones unlocked after completing the main game. With the upgraded version it looks more like a mini Balloon. The upgrade allows Starfy to be able to move faster by using the B button to activate its jet.

During the post game, if the player talks to Mechani, he says that he's made a new kind of Balloon and asks if he wants to try it out. The Balloon upgrade features a jet that, by pressing and holding the B button, allows the Balloon to gain a burst of speed. When Starfy reaches Mechani, he calls the Jet Balloon a complete success, and tells Starfy that he saw a treasure up ahead (the contents of which is the Sheet Music for [[Slippery Ice Alpine|Slippery Glacier]]). If Starfy talks to Old Man Mechani again, he notes that his talent scares even him for both the Balloon and Jet Balloon to be successful experiments.

=In Densetsu no Starfy 3=
Instead of meeting Old Man Mechani, Starfy, [[Moe]], and Starly meet [[Mekani Genius|Mechani Genius]] for the first time, worrying about his grandfather. Old Man Mechani decided to move on from experimenting with Balloons to experimenting with balloons, but hasn't come back yet. After popping the balloon he tied himself to with Mechani Genius' [[Pogo Stick]], he says that he's had enough of balloons and thanks the trio by giving them the [[Intellectual Glasses|Intelli-Specs]]. If Starfy talks to Old Man Mechani and his grandson again, he'll ask if Starly is his little sister, and then remark that she seems a bit more dependable than Starfy does.

If Starfy or Starly speaks to Old Man Mechani during the post game (after getting the upgraded Pogo Stick), he'll ask the siblings how it feels to use the upgraded Pogo Stick, with Mechani Genius chiming in, boasting that it obviously feels amazing.

Fluffy responds by talking nonsense, but shortly snaps out of it, saying that it’s been hot lately and that he feels like he’s been in a daze. Moe tells him to take off the costume, but Fluffy says he doesn’t want to and starts talking nonsense again. Moe tells Starfy to find something cold to cool down Fluffy, eventually finding a [[Snowman]] through a maze of [[Ginji]]. When Starfy returns to where Fluffy is, Moe throws the Snowman onto him, causing him to cool down. He then gives Starfy access to the [[Kigurumi (ability)|Koala Costume]]

===Post Game===

During the post game, Fluffy created a new feature for the costume, but it can’t be used. Getting angry, he tells Starfy that this will be a test, and he'll only gain access to the new feature after completing it. After doing so, Starfy gains access to the Yankee Costume (which unlocks extra stages) and the ability to switch between the Koala and Yankee Costumes by pressing the L or R Button(s).

In ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 3]]'', Moe tells Fluffy to give them a [[Kigurumi (ability)|Costume]], but he explains that he doesn't have any left to give them. He says that if he had the materials, he could make one in no time, so Moe tells Starfy to gather some fiber ([[Wool]]), something to sew with (the [[Sewing Set]]) and a cool-looking accessory (the [[Curved Horns]]) and bring them back to Fluffy. Before Starfy leaves, though, Fluffy asks him to take an [[Oboe]] he found to [[Shiro-san]], thinking that it might be his. By doing so, Shiro lets him shear his [[Uruwool]] for their Wool, which he then gives to [[Rockin' Baa]], who gives Starfy the Sewing Set. Taking this Sewing Set to [[Saint Nak]], he uses it to repair his torn [[Sack of Presents]], and thanks Starfy by giving him the [[Reindeer Band]]. Finally, Starfy takes the Reindeer Band to the [[Jellato Sisters]], who think the accessory is cool and trade him the [[Curved Horns]].

After Starfy returns to Fluffy with the aforementioned materials, he makes the [[Kigurumi (ability)|Sheep Costume]] and gives it to Starfy after he gets used to operating it.
