The '''Puchi Ogura''' (Japanese: プチオーグラ, ''Puchi Ōgura''), literally '''Petite Ogura''' are [[Ogura]]'s ten children and the main antagonists of ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 2]]'' alongside Ogura. They only appeared in person in ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 2]]'', however they also appeared in one flashback in ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 3]]''. Most of them team up or are seen alongside bosses in the game, apart from {{PuchiOgura|4}}, {{PuchiOgura|6}} (with a giant [[Kigurumi (boss)|Kigurumi]]) and {{PuchiOgura|10}} (with a helmet) who fight by themselves. They died after they were defeated by [[Starfy]] as evident by a flashback and the end of the true credits in ''Densetsu no Starfy 3''.

This one has a reddish orange and blue tail, reddish orange hair, and appears to be wearing a monocle. He can turn into a fire and ice dragon and battles by himself.

Only this one's tail can't be seen. She has pink hair and wears a pink dress. She teams up with [[Numan]].

:Yeah. To be honest, I am not excited about the two new Mario games. Pikmin 3 looks interesting. NintendoLand is actually much better than it seems, as I've heard. An F-Zero attraction was announced, and it seems like a Yoshi and Balloon Fight attraction will be coming. Nintendo posted pictures of all the series icons that will be in NintendoLand, and there was a Yoshi Egg and a Balloon. Is P-100 being published by Nintendo? Game and Wario looks interesting. Rayman Legends looks fantastic. I don't like Scribblenauts all too much, because I always come up with boring words. The "core" games announced look fun. Though, I'm not interested in ZombiU or Batman.

:Everyone is saying Ubisoft won E3, and I could agree with that. Sony and Microsoft also bombed.

:Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Paper Mario: Sticker Star look fun. Nintendo shouldn't have announced those until this year, in my honest opinion though. I'm still anticipating Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance and Heroes of Ruin. I believe Nintendo gave other third-party titles the spotlight, but I cannot remember which. There is still the 3DS thing today, I think Animal Crossing will be showed off, and hopefully a couple new titles. Next year's E3 will be much better, I think. At least I get to keep my money this year, lol. I'll just ask for everything for Christmas (except for the Wii U) since I have a lot of relatives.

::I remember Project Hammer. Project P-100 looks pretty sweet though. I hope it becomes a series for Nintendo. I've actually been pleased with Nintendo's effors lately. :::By "classic", I mean Kid Icarus, Punch Out!!, Donkey Kong Country, the return to 2D Mario, Sin and Punishment, etc. Nintendo has been reviving more well-known games like that. A Balloon Fight and Ice Climber game would be nice. Ice Climber could be an amazing platformer. The word "Ice" is holding it back for me though. If they were to revive it, they would need to do a whole lot. Ice setting would get boring. Maybe just "Climber", but even if they kept the name "Ice Climber", and had ice themes, I'm sure Nintendo could do something.

:::Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon looks really cool. I like the whole multiple mansions idea, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here. Paper Mario Sticker Star looks incredible, but are there partners? If not, then I will be massively upset. Partners rule. I enjoyed Super Paper Mario, but the first two games were superior to it. I really like how in Sticker Star, real life objects can be affect everything. I really want to hear something about Animal Crossing: Jump Out. Animal Crossing is probably my most played Nintendo franchise in hours total trying to collect everything. stupic golden axe... I hope you can get eaten by sharks when swimming. Kind of like the scorpions and tarantulas. I hope Nintendo does more unique things with it though. I'm still not exactly excited for the two new mario games. Mario Bros. 2 feels like a Wario game. Mario Bros. U looks more interesting, and if I ever play multiplayer, I would definitely use the GamePad and kill all my friends :P As for Fire Emblem... Yay! That's all.

It's my pleasure. I have been working on and off on The Legendary Starfy in regards to speedrunning for years, and recently decided to get into the Japan only games. Very enjoyable series. I pretty much found those glitches while speedrunning the games, and I just found another graphical glitch while doing a run of the first game, which i just took the time to learn, (https://www.twitch.tv/diamond44444444/v/107860449). In regards to the correction for the enemy cards, I spent about 45 minutes looking for the Upon in 9-3 when I was getting 100% and I didn't want anybody else to fall victim to that.
I saw your channel on youtube a few months ago (At least I think it's your channel) and saw the skip you found in 5-5 of Densetsu no Stafy 2 and other things. That skip in particular was pretty cool and saves approximately 40-60 seconds in a speedrun, but given that it's already over an hour into a 4+ hour run I really won't be doing it in an RTA.

On the topic of the 5-5 skip and the original person who discovered it, I was going through that TASlog that you have in the description of that video and was looking at the video names for Stafy. A few ones really caught my eye, including the stafy3-stapy-doublejump (I'm implying that it applies to Stafi), the stafy3-rocket, the stafy2-cornerboost, and especially the stafy1_pearl_glitch. I would presume that you have accessed these files before since you found the 5-5 skip from it, so are you able to access these files and tell me what they are comprised of? I'm also curious what exactly is in the stafy2 parts of those files, since the game has not had much development in terms of speedrunning except for a really bad RTA that I did and an incomplete TAS that comprises only 3 levels.
In regards to the stafy1_pearl_glitch, if it pertains to obtaining pearls fast I would really like to know about it, since grinding pearls in that game for a 100% speedrun would be extremely tedious and annoying, almost as much so as in The Legendary Starfy 100%, which requires ~30 goes through 9-7 to get enough pearls. In a boss battle with Bankirosu if [[Starfy]] performs a [[Star Spin]] on Bankirosu in a certain way it's possible to bump into the spikes and also damage Starfy. If Bankirosu and Starfy both have one health point, the player can defeat Bankirosu while failing the boss fight at the same time. Bankirosu's 'defeated' animation is played, but it appears that Starfy is sent back outside of the boss room before anything else can happen. If Starfy returns to the boss room, Bankirosu will be there to fight Starfy again with full health points.

If after beating [[Ogura]], the player performs the glitch when Bankirosu is meant to give Starfy a treasure chest, the treasure chest is knocked out of Bankirosu, but the player will be sent back outside of the boss room before it can be obtained.

The demo glitch is a bug that allows the player to take control of the game from the [[wikipedia:attract mode|attract mode]] and skip to any stage from the second stage ([[Coral Reef]]). This is due to incorrect playback of the Coral Reef demo where Starfy swims past Moe and around the room. This is caused by ending the attract demo with the [[Balloon]] when Starfy's at around the same x-coordinate as the Balloon.

The attract mode ends when Starfy hits Moe with a Star Spin, initiating a conversation with Moe. When the player exits the conversation and takes control, the game is considered to be "completed". By default the player has access to every stage, all vehicles unlocked, the ability to break the [[Seal Block]]s blocks and the ability to get [[treasure]]. The save file will have a star next to it, meaning that the player is able to see the post-game title screen.

This glitch, combined with the Suspend Save glitch have been used in tool-assisted speedruns of ''Densetsu no Starfy'' to beat the game within about 3:30-6:30 minutes.

The Imadame glitch allows [[Starfy]]'s HP to underflow from 0 to 255 hearts by getting caught by [[Imadame]] during the 'no hearts' sequence. The glitch is exploitable in the bottom-right room of [[Pufftop]]. The player must have access to the [[Catfish Boat]] and the ability to break the [[Seal Block]]s. Through the second door past the Catfish Boat, there are Imadame and a [[Nubble]] at the top-left corner of the room. The Nubble allows Starfy to lose all of his hearts and lose another one due to getting caught by the Imadame during the 'no hearts' sequence.

Since values for heart bar graphics (memory address: 03000F7A) greater than 05h are invalid, the game displays a glitchy mess on the screen when it tries to draw Starfy's health. For certain values (e.g. 248-255 hearts), Starfy, the treasure chest at the end of the room and enemies, including the Imadame and [[Nubble]] are made invisible due to the glitchy graphics, while other values keep them visible on the screen.

===Suspend Save glitch===

This is a glitch that involves corrupting the player's Suspend Save data. When the player opens the Pause Menu the game creates a temporary save. If the player resets the game, a message will appear asking the player whether he/she wants to resume the save game data.

If the player presses Start to open the Pause Menu in another location when they already have Suspend Save data, and then resets the game exactly 36 frames after pressing Start, the Suspend Save data may become corrupted.

The results of the glitch tend to vary. The exact reasons why are unknown, but it tends to vary by location and room.

One possible result of the glitch is that the player is still in the latest stage, but glitchy enemies appear and the locations of doors are different. If this happens, entering one of the doors will bring the player to a room in the latest stage.

Another possible result of the glitch is that the game loads the previous stage but with the music of the latest stage. If this happens, enemies from the latest stage such as [[Imadame]] may appear in the previous location. Talking to [[Moe]] will bring up a conversation from the latest stage with the index number (stored in memory address 03000D84) of the conversation from the previous location. For example, a conversation with Moe in [[Coral Coast]] has an index number of 14h (20), which also corresponds to the second boss battle with [[Ogura]] in [[Pufftop]].

The lag will go away after a few seconds but the glitch is repeatable if Starfy [[Entering a Door|enters a door]] and returns to the map to have the Arumonto respawn.

In Area 2 of [[Pitch Dark Cave]] (Stage 6) there is a puzzle where Starfy must push a red 'Apple' ball into a pit below a 'Pig' icon, a yellow 'Honey' ball into a pit below a 'Bird' icon and a blue 'Sky' ball into a pit below a 'Fish' icon.
Once Starfy pushes the correct ball into the correct pit, the pit will be closed off by a thin platform. If Starfy manages to get one of the incorrect balls in the vicinity of the platform that appears when a pit is closed off, it will be pushed upwards at a high velocity.

On map 2, there is a [[Dokazun]] past two spiked balls and four rows of breakable bricks. If the player gets past the bricks so that the Dokazun can see Starfy and then performs a [[Star Spin]] above it when it is close to the wall, it will move through the wall and become stuck in it. If Starfy then performs another Star Spin, it is possible for the Dokazun will fly up the wall and off the screen with a high velocity.

Starfy is meant to use another door and then use his [[Star Spin]] on a cork to fill the room with water again.

However, by using a difficult to perform technique, Starfy can run up, jump, and bounce up from the damage of a [[Komorin]] (bat/bee like enemy) to enter the door without filling the room with water.

In the battle with [[Ogura]]'s final form, if Starfy gets swallowed by Ogura when Starfy is in the invulnerable stage from getting hit by a previous attack, when Starfy is spit out he will stand near the center of Ogura's mouth instead of taking damage and being pushed downwards.

===Platform jump glitch===

In Stage 8-4 ([[Pufftop]]), there is a minor floating platform glitch that can be performed in room 3. This is a large room that scrolls vertically. If Starfy jumps on to one of the floating platforms when there isn't much space above it, he may jump for no apparent reason.

In Stage 10-6 ([[Torrent's Waterfall]])'s boss room, rarely when jumping up to the area with Puchi Ogura #10 his text box will appear at the bottom of the screen before shortly moving to the top of the screen. The cause is unclear.

===Shocked [[Starfy]] glitch===
In Stage 3-3 ([[Turtle Turtle Land]]) after the player catches [[Kamekkojinan]] and [[Kamekkoimouto]] and returns to [[Moe]], he will celebrate that they are finally 'caught', until they will run off with [[Kamekkochounan]] after he invites them into the door.

Later, Moe gets angry and shocks Starfy. If the player presses the Start button to end the conversation early while Starfy is 'shocked', he will remain shocked until the Area is cleared. The sprites of Starfy being shocked do not change when Starfy uses [[Star Spin]]s or becomes [[Dizzy]]. If after opening the Pause Menu with Start, the player resets the game and resumes it via Suspsend Save, the file will be loaded with Starfy still shocked.

If the player resets the game after saving via the Mermaid and loads the file without loading the Suspend Save, Starfy's sprite will return to normal. Clearing the stage and entering the next will also return Starfy's sprite back to normal.

When revisiting Stage 8-5 ([[Pufftop]]) after beating the game, there is a [[Sukarudon]] between two walls, with the left most wall being very small height and width wise, in the room where {{Squirt|4}} used to be. If the player is sent to this room from map 9 (accessible through the bottom-right most door from the main room with the [[Imadame]]), the Sukarudon may be stuck in the right-most wall until Starfy moves up a bit.

In the boss battle with {{PuchiOgura|2}} and [[Pekin Duck Model]] in Stage 2-4 ([[Gluglug Lagoon]]), if [[Starfy]] stays at the top-left corner of the room, Starfy won't get hit by the fire that surrounds them. Puchi Ogura #2 and Pekin Duck Model will be trapped, as they will keep trying to go left and up. This makes Puchi Ogura #2 and Pekin Duck Model easy to defeat as Starfy only has to wait for the fire to extinguish in order to hit them with a [[Star Spin]].

In the boss battle with altered [[Ogura]], it is possible for Ogura to perform an attack with no [[health|health points]] left.

Documented behaviors include:
*Ogura firing his laser at a very high speed with no health points left, damaging Starfy (or possibly Starly). If Starfy is defeated by Ogura, he will have to fight him again.
*[https://youtu.be/wqBrJEVjGM4?t=159 Ogura performing his swallow attack] with no health points left. It is not known what would happen if Starfy or Starly's health points ran out here.

===Disappearing objects===

In Stage 6-5 ([[Flamer Volcano]]) there is a room (room 3) with two [[Ippon]] and multiple blocks. If Starfy or [[Starly]] breaks the block on the bottom-left corner, leaves a block above it, and allows both Ippon to move to the gap in the bottom-left corner with [[Starfy]], Starfy can use his [[Star Spin]] to get blocked by the Ippons' shells continuously. After a while of getting blocked by the shells, any [[Pearl]]s and the door nearby will disappear until Starfy or Starly move away or defeat the Ippons. Part of the [[Arukaseki]] nearby also becomes invisible when Starfy or Starly is getting blocked by the shells.

===[[Gabun Ocean Trench]] stone platform exploit===

In Stage 7-3 (Gabun Ocean Trench) and before clearing the area, the player is meant to solve a stone platform puzzle on the seventh map.

The player is intended to use a [[bell (switching players)|bell]] to alternate between Starfy and Starly, with Starfy pushing the stone platforms in for Starly to jump on.

Possibly due to an oversight, Starly can stand on a tiny space next to the stone platforms while the stone platforms are wedged between walls (not pushed out). Combined with Starly's [[Wall Jump]] ability, this allows the player to bypass the puzzle entirely.

Prior to completing the game, in Stage 4-4 ([[Crushed Ice Alpine]]), in room 6 [[The Jellato Sisters]] can be found frozen in ice. If Starfy pushes the ice block against the wall in a certain way, it will bounce back and send Starfy flying upwards at a high velocity.

In Densetsu no Stafy 3, in the time between when Starly or Starfy engages in a cutscene/dialogue-related trigger that induces a change in music and when the cutscene/dialogue actually starts, the music currently playing transitions to the next song by getting quieter until the next song actually starts. In this instance in 10-3, the [[Imadame]] activating while the music was getting quieter causes the music to stay quiet until the next cutscene that changed the music occurs.

Below are a list of glitches in both ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 4]]'' and ''[[The Legendary Starfy]]''.

===Sleep Mode bug===
This bug works with both the [[Nintendo DS]] or [[Nintendo DS|Nintendo DS Lite]], but not with a [[nwiki:Nintendo 3DS|Nintendo 3DS]] or [[nwiki:Nintendo DS|Nintendo 3DS XL]].

After closing the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite into Sleep Mode, if the player quickly ejects the Game Card and reinserts it, it will activate a glitch when the player opens the Nintendo DS from Sleep Mode. If the player is too slow to reinsert the Game Card, the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite will power off and the player will have to try the bug again.

After the glitch is activated, the game will freeze when it attempts to load new data. This typically happens when entering a door.

Below are a list of glitches in ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 4]]''.

===Disappearing [[Kigurumi (ability)|Kigurumi]] in [[Old Tower]]===
This bug involves the Kigurumi disappearing. It is known to work in [[Area]] 1 of [[Old Tower]]. The player must go to room 17 (the upper-right most room on the map). In order to get to this room, the player must have solved the [[Tobira Majin]] riddle, so that he/she can go past Tobira Majin.

In room 17, there is a Kigurumi lying on the ground. As [[Starly]], if the player [[Wall Jump]]s up the east-most wall until reaching about the first ledge, it will cause the Kigurumi to disappear until Starfy or Starly exit the room and enter again.

===Getting in front of [[Kabutomushi]]===
Somehow, it is possible to get in front of a blue Kabutomushi; i.e. one that has had its [[Otafukusou]] defeated. Normally the player cannot pass it and can only use it to [[Wall Jump]]. The glitch can be fixed by [[Entering a Door]] and going back through it.

===Getting past a [[Kabutomushi]] without [[Otafukusou]]===
There is a Kabutomushi in Area 4 of [[Hidden Village of Koimaro]] that can be climbed without defeating its relevant Otafukusou.

This Kabutomushi can be bypassed on map 4 (bottom-right corner of the room). The player must have [[Starly]] [[Wall Jump]] on the green floor below the Kabutomushi, then Wall Jump on the adjacent green wall. If done correctly, Starly should bounce off Kabutomushi and land on the branch. This is a fairly useless exploit though, as its Otafukusou can be accessed by swimming around to it in the same room.

Another Kabutomushi [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfp36mGMFvY can be bypassed] with Starly in the middle of map 5 - a long vertical room, but this does not cause a sequence break because Starfy can use the [[Air Jump]] to get past it anyway.

===Jumping across the water===
In [[Thousand Year Hill]], there are floating pools of water. If [[Starfy]] or [[Starly]] touch the bottom edge of the water and move across it, it appears that Starfy or Starly are 'jumping' across the water, though the sprite seems to 'flicker' quickly between the jumping sprite and another sprite which depicts Starfy or Starly with their legs closely together. If the player holds the A button while moving across the water, the sprites will flicker less often.

This glitch appears to have been fixed in ''[[The Legendary Starfy]]'' as jumping into the bottom edge of a floating pool of water (as they appear in [[Sogwood Forest]]) will not make Starfy enter it.

===[[Mermaid]] animation bug===

The [[Mermaid]] animation bug occurs in one Area of [[Flourishing Desert]] (Stage 6-4). In the sixth room, there are two Mermaids, one of which is only accessible in the room above, but is still visible. If the player saves at the first Mermaid, then quickly moves [[Starfy]] towards the second Mermaid, it will animate for a while with buggy graphics.

Depending on Starfy's position on the screen different things can happen. If Starfy is standing a little to the left of the second Mermaid, (in the middle of the third pillar and beyond) it will come back into its shell and the graphics will return back to normal. If Starfy is standing to the right of the third pillar, the graphics remain glitchy. Pausing and returning to the game will fix the graphics.

===[[Pearl]] overflow glitch===

The [[Pearl]] overflow glitch occurs in one Area of [[Flourishing Desert]] (Stage 6-3). The player must have defeated [[Degil]] at least once in order for the rare enemy [[Kaimo]] to appear in the first room.

The Pearl overflow glitch happens when [[Starfy]] or [[Starly]] hit the enemy Kaimo with a [[Star Spin]] and it releases too many Pearls. Kaimo is programmed to always return the right amount of [[Pearl]]s even if this is theoretically too much for the game to handle at once. If Kaimo steals a large number of pearls, this will cause the game to lag slightly when too many big Pearls are released on to the screen. Under the right circumstances, it is possible to corrupt the screen and/or freeze the game when the game attempts to give out an excessive amount of Pearls.

The enemy [[Pearl Dragon]] can also steal Starfy and Starly's Pearls. If too many Pearls are released when Starfy or Starly hit a Pearl Dragon, a slowdown can be noticed, however it appears to be impossible to freeze the game with a Pearl Dragon.

The rotating spikes glitch causes two sets of rotating spikes to merge into one. It occurs in [[Old Tower]] (Stage 8-2). In map 14 (bottom-right corner) there are two sets of rotating spikes past two [[Wiggyback]]s. If the player opens the Pause Menu when both sets of rotating spikes are on the screen, it will cause the right-most set of spikes to merge into the left-most spike set when the menu is closed.

===[[Woktopus]] fire glitches===
If while using the [[Propeller Bit]] Starfy or Starly hits a fireball from a [[Woktopus]] with a carrot missile the 'hit' sound effect will be heard and the fireball will not turn into a flame as it touches a surface and will continue moving along it, until touching spikes or stopping near the left or right edge of the screen. The fireball will remain there until Starfy or Starly move it off the screen or when the room is reloaded (loading the [[Pause Menu]] and exiting does not count).

If a Woktopus flame is hit the 'hit' sound effect will play and the flame will remain there until moving it off the screen or when the room is reloaded (loading the Pause Menu and exiting does not count). This behavior is abnormal because normally flames should disappear after a short period of time. It is even possible to hit the fireball on the frame it is transforming into a flame, i.e. when a flame can be seen with a ball inside it that is on top of a large circular section of fire. Hitting it causes the 'hit' sound effect to play as before, and it can only be removed by the aforementioned methods.

Below are a list of glitches in ''[[The Legendary Starfy]]''.

===Fast [[Sand Tracer]] music bug===
When less than 30 seconds are remaining in the [[Minigames|minigame]] [[Sand Tracer]], the music will change to a fast version of the tune. If the player pauses the game and chooses 'Quit' after the fast version has started playing, the fast Sand Tracer tune will not stop and will play alongside the [[Minigames (music)|Minigames tune]] (the player is brought to the minigames selection screen as expected). The fast Sand Tracer music will still be playing if the player chooses to play all but one minigame or goes back to the "Play by Yourself", "Play with a Friend <Local Wireless>" and "Play with a Friend <DS Download Play>" screen. The music will stop if the player chooses [[Dumpling Master]], returns to [[Moe's Case]], returns to the [[File Selection|File Selection screen]], or enters the results screen, where in all four cases the expected music will replace the fast Sand Tracer music. Alternatively, powering off the game or soft-resetting will fix the music.

This bug does not occur with the fast versions of [[Depth Chargers]], [[Fishing Derby]] or Dumpling Master.

===Getting Note 42 without Super Bugawk===
In ''The Legendary Starfy'', getting the forty-second note on [[Skydye Heights]] (Stage 6-4), known as "Ruby's Diary - "Still Looking"", typically requires [[Starfy]] as [[Roostar]] to jump on a [[Stangler]], reach a platform and then use Super Bugawk on the [[Lurchin]] to lift Starfy to the treasure chest.

As the platform is rather high, this typically requires the upgraded Roostar first to flutter higher in the air. The Super Bugawk is expected to enable the Stangler to lift Starfy higher, but due to an oversight, the player can alternatively get the note by continuously jumping in the air on top of the Stangler and performing Bugawk. This allows the Stangler to rise slightly each time. If the player lets the Stangler rise very high, Starfy should be able to make it to the treasure chest simply by jumping.

===[[Moe's Sniffer]] glitch===
[[Moe's Sniffer]] doesn't activate for the initial [[Roostar]] [[Transforming Stone]], although it does for other Transforming Stones.

===[[Skydye Heights]] [[Moe's siblings]] quiz glitch===
A [[Moe's siblings]] quiz appears in [[Skydye Heights]]'s [[area]] 3 ("The Star Spin Goes Ultra" (Japanese: {{alttext|そうそく！スピンアッタクレベル３|General rules! Spin Attack Level 3}}).

In the Japanese version of ''[[The Legendary Starfy]]'', solving it changes the music to [[Sogwood Forest]] until the player leaves the room. This may suggest that code to change the music to Sogwood Forest was copied over from the Moe's sibling quiz in Sogwood Forest, but unchanged.

In the North American version of ''The Legendary Starfy'', this curiosity does not occur, and the music changes to Skydye Heights.

===[[Snowmen]] building animation glitch===
This glitch is also known as 'black snowmen' by an individual who uploaded a video of it on [[wikipedia:Youtube|Youtube]], but the video is now unavailable. Prior to clearing the [[area]], at the start of [[Chillydip Cove]]'s area 4 (stage 3-4) if Starfy defeats a [[snowmen|snowman]], then runs up to about the top of the slope (but not to trigger the conversation with [[Puplion]]) and then returns to where the snowmen are, then the building animation may become glitchy, showing a snowman without a body in the second frame, and then a messed up 'black snowman' in the third frame. If Starfy defeats the snowmen again, the glitched up animation will happen for sure. This glitch does not work if the player returns to stage 3-4 after clearing it, probably because two extra snowmen appear where Bunston, Moe and Puplion used to be.

If the player creates a [[Suspend Save]] when a snowman has a glitchy animation frame, it will change to the equivalent normal animation frame when the game is reloaded, and Starfy will have to defeat a snowman/run up the hill again to get the glitch to work. Saving at the [[Mermaid]]'s shell and resetting the game will also force Starfy to perform the full steps of this glitch to get it to work again.

===Musical pause glitch===
This is a simple musical oversight in [[Sogwood Forest]]'s area 3 (Stage 4-3, The Papes Chase). When Papes is chasing Starfy at the end of the level, the music playing is [[Something Happens (music)|Something Happens]]. After Papes falls off of the slope and the conversation between Moe, Bunston and Starfy ends, the music will revert back to the normal Sogwood Forest theme. Pausing and unpausing the game will cause Something Happens to start playing again.

===Beating [[Bankirosu]] while losing at the same time===

In a boss battle with Bankirosu if [[Starfy]] performs a [[Star Spin]] on Bankirosu in a certain way it's possible to bump into the spikes and also damage Starfy. If Bankirosu and Starfy both have one health point, the player can defeat Bankirosu while failing the boss fight at the same time. Bankirosu's 'defeated' animation is played, but it appears that Starfy is sent back outside of the boss room before anything else can happen. If Starfy returns to the boss room, Bankirosu will be there to fight Starfy again with full health points.

If after beating [[Ogura]], the player performs the glitch when Bankirosu is meant to give Starfy a treasure chest, the treasure chest is knocked out of Bankirosu, but the player will be sent back outside of the boss room before it can be obtained.

The player's data for both files on the [[File Select]] screen may suddenly become corrupted. On the [[Title Screen]], the game may prompt the player that there is a [[Suspend Save]] for an invalid file and freeze with static playing in the background if it is loaded.

The data for both files may look as follows.

*There is a star next to the file name to mark the file as complete.
*The location is glitched: in [[:user:Torchickens|one]] case, "4 4444444".
*There are a large number of [[Pearl]]s greater than 9999, marked as (white block)535. This is presumably 65535, the largest 16-bit number.
*The [[Photograph]] is complete.
*All [[Treasure Items]] are obtained.
*The [[Toys|Picture Book]] is complete.

This is due to incorrect playback of the Coral Reef demo where Starfy swims past Moe and around the room. This is caused by ending the attract demo with the [[Balloon]] when Starfy's at around the same x-coordinate as the Balloon.

The attract mode ends when Starfy hits Moe with a Star Spin, initiating a conversation with Moe. When the player exits the conversation and takes control, the game is considered to be "completed". By default the player has access to every stage, all vehicles unlocked, the ability to break the [[Seal Block]]s blocks and the ability to get [[treasure]]. The save file will have a star next to it, meaning that the player is able to see the post-game title screen.

This glitch, combined with the Suspend Save glitch have been used in tool-assisted speedruns of ''Densetsu no Starfy'' to beat the game within about 3:30-6:30 minutes.

The Imadame glitch allows [[Starfy]]'s HP to underflow from 0 to 255 hearts by getting caught by [[Imadame]] during the 'no hearts' sequence. The glitch is exploitable in the bottom-right room of [[Pufftop]]. The player must have access to the [[Catfish Boat]] and the ability to break the [[Seal Block]]s. Through the second door past the Catfish Boat, there are Imadame and a [[Nubble]] at the top-left corner of the room. The Nubble allows Starfy to lose all of his hearts and lose another one due to getting caught by the Imadame during the 'no hearts' sequence.

Since values for heart bar graphics (memory address: 03000F7A) greater than 05h are invalid, the game displays a glitchy mess on the screen when it tries to draw Starfy's health. For certain values (e.g. 248-255 hearts), Starfy, the treasure chest at the end of the room and enemies, including the Imadame and [[Nubble]] are made invisible due to the glitchy graphics, while other values keep them visible on the screen.

===Suspend Save glitch===

This is a glitch that involves corrupting the player's Suspend Save data. When the player opens the Pause Menu the game creates a temporary save. If the player resets the game, a message will appear asking the player whether he/she wants to resume the save game data.

If the player presses Start to open the Pause Menu in another location when they already have Suspend Save data, and then resets the game exactly 36 frames after pressing Start, the Suspend Save data may become corrupted.

The results of the glitch tend to vary. The exact reasons why are unknown, but it tends to vary by location and room.

One possible result of the glitch is that the player is still in the latest stage, but glitchy enemies appear and the locations of doors are different. If this happens, entering one of the doors will bring the player to a room in the latest stage.

Another possible result of the glitch is that the game loads the previous stage but with the music of the latest stage. If this happens, enemies from the latest stage such as [[Imadame]] may appear in the previous location. Talking to [[Moe]] will bring up a conversation from the latest stage with the index number (stored in memory address 03000D84) of the conversation from the previous location. For example, a conversation with Moe in [[Coral Coast]] has an index number of 14h (20), which also corresponds to the second boss battle with [[Ogura]] in [[Pufftop]].

This glitch, combined with the [[Demo glitch]] have been used in tool-assisted speedruns of ''Densetsu no Starfy'' to beat the game within about 3:30-6:30 minutes. It has not been confirmed to work on a real console.

The lag will go away after a few seconds but the glitch is repeatable if Starfy [[Entering a Door|enters a door]] and returns to the map to have the Arumonto respawn.

===Ball glitch===
In Area 2 of [[Pitch Dark Cave]] (Stage 6) there is a puzzle where Starfy must push a red 'Apple' ball into a pit below a 'Pig' icon, a yellow 'Honey' ball into a pit below a 'Bird' icon and a blue 'Sky' ball into a pit below a 'Fish' icon.
Once Starfy pushes the correct ball into the correct pit, the pit will be closed off by a thin platform. If Starfy manages to get one of the incorrect balls in the vicinity of the platform that appears when a pit is closed off, it will be pushed upwards at a high velocity.

This glitch occurs in Area 9 of [[Torrent's Waterfall]] (Stage 10). To get to this stage, the player must have unlocked the upgraded [[Sukebon]]. On map 2, there is a [[Dokazun]] past two spiked balls and four rows of breakable bricks. If the player gets past the bricks so that the Dokazun can see Starfy and then performs a [[Star Spin]] above it when it is close to the wall, it will move through the wall and become stuck in it. If Starfy then performs another Star Spin, it is possible for the Dokazun will fly up the wall and off the screen with a high velocity.

Before clearing the area 5 of [[Large Tree's Forest]] (Stage 5-5), [[Numan]] will drain the water in the second map, meaning that a door at the top-right corner of the map is inaccessible under normal circumstances.

Starfy is meant to use another door and then use his [[Star Spin]] on a cork to fill the room with water again.

However, by using a difficult to perform technique, Starfy can run up, jump, and bounce up from the damage of a [[Komorin]] (bat/bee like enemy) to enter the door without filling the room with water.

In Stage 3-3 ([[Turtle Turtle Land]]) after the player catches [[Kamekkojinan]] and [[Kamekkoimouto]] and returns to [[Moe]], he will celebrate that they are finally 'caught', until they will run off with [[Kamekkochounan]] after he invites them into the door.

Later, Moe gets angry and shocks Starfy. If the player presses the Start button to end the conversation early while Starfy is 'shocked', he will remain shocked until the Area is cleared. The sprites of Starfy being shocked do not change when Starfy uses [[Star Spin]]s or becomes [[Dizzy]]. If after opening the Pause Menu with Start, the player resets the game and resumes it via Suspsend Save, the file will be loaded with Starfy still shocked.

If the player resets the game after saving via the Mermaid and loads the file without loading the Suspend Save, Starfy's sprite will return to normal. Clearing the stage and entering the next will also return Starfy's sprite back to normal.

This makes Puchi Ogura #2 and Pekin Duck Model easy to defeat as Starfy only has to wait for the fire to extinguish in order to hit them with a [[Star Spin]].

Part of the [[Arukaseki]] nearby also becomes invisible when Starfy or Starly is getting blocked by the shells.

In Stage 7-3 (Gabun Ocean Trench) and before clearing the area, the player is meant to solve a stone platform puzzle on the seventh map.

The player is intended to use a [[bell (switching players)|bell]] to alternate between Starfy and Starly, with Starfy pushing the stone platforms in for Starly to jump on.

Possibly due to an oversight, Starly can stand on a tiny space next to the stone platforms while the stone platforms are wedged between walls (not pushed out). Combined with Starly's [[Wall Jump]] ability, this allows the player to bypass the puzzle entirely.

After closing the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite into Sleep Mode, if the player quickly ejects the Game Card and reinserts it, it will activate a glitch when the player opens the Nintendo DS from Sleep Mode. If the player is too slow to reinsert the Game Card, the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite will power off and the player will have to try the bug again.

After the glitch is activated, the game will freeze when it attempts to load new data. This typically happens when entering a door.

This bug involves the Kigurumi disappearing. It is known to work in [[Area]] 1 of [[Old Tower]]. The player must go to room 17 (the upper-right most room on the map). In order to get to this room, the player must have solved the [[Tobira Majin]] riddle, so that he/she can go past Tobira Majin.

In room 17, there is a Kigurumi lying on the ground. As [[Starly]], if the player [[Wall Jump]]s up the east-most wall until reaching about the first ledge, it will cause the Kigurumi to disappear until Starfy or Starly exit the room and enter again.

===Getting in front of [[Kabutomushi]]===
Somehow, it is possible to get in front of a blue Kabutomushi; i.e. one that has had its [[Otafukusou]] defeated. Normally the player cannot pass it and can only use it to [[Wall Jump]]. The glitch can be fixed by [[Entering a Door]] and going back through it.

There is a Kabutomushi in Area 4 of [[Hidden Village of Koimaro]] that can be climbed without defeating its relevant Otafukusou.

This Kabutomushi can be bypassed on map 4 (bottom-right corner of the room). The player must have [[Starly]] [[Wall Jump]] on the green floor below the Kabutomushi, then Wall Jump on the adjacent green wall. If done correctly, Starly should bounce off Kabutomushi and land on the branch. This is a fairly useless exploit though, as its Otafukusou can be accessed by swimming around to it in the same room.

===Jumping across the water===
In [[Thousand Year Hill]], there are floating pools of water. If [[Starfy]] or [[Starly]] touch the bottom edge of the water and move across it, it appears that Starfy or Starly are 'jumping' across the water, though the sprite seems to 'flicker' quickly between the jumping sprite and another sprite which depicts Starfy or Starly with their legs closely together. If the player holds the A button while moving across the water, the sprites will flicker less often.

This glitch appears to have been fixed in ''[[The Legendary Starfy]]'' as jumping into the bottom edge of a floating pool of water (as they appear in [[Sogwood Forest]]) will not make Starfy enter it.

===[[Mermaid]] animation bug===

The [[Mermaid]] animation bug occurs in one Area of [[Flourishing Desert]] (Stage 6-4). In the sixth room, there are two Mermaids, one of which is only accessible in the room above, but is still visible. If the player saves at the first Mermaid, then quickly moves [[Starfy]] towards the second Mermaid, it will animate for a while with buggy graphics.

Depending on Starfy's position on the screen different things can happen. If Starfy is standing a little to the left of the second Mermaid, (in the middle of the third pillar and beyond) it will come back into its shell and the graphics will return back to normal. If Starfy is standing to the right of the third pillar, the graphics remain glitchy. Pausing and returning to the game will fix the graphics.

===[[Pearl]] overflow glitch===

The [[Pearl]] overflow glitch occurs in one Area of [[Flourishing Desert]] (Stage 6-3). The player must have defeated [[Degil]] at least once in order for the rare enemy [[Kaimo]] to appear in the first room.

The Pearl overflow glitch happens when [[Starfy]] or [[Starly]] hit the enemy Kaimo with a [[Star Spin]] and it releases too many Pearls. Kaimo is programmed to always return the right amount of [[Pearl]]s even if this is theoretically too much for the game to handle at once. If Kaimo steals a large number of pearls, this will cause the game to lag slightly when too many big Pearls are released on to the screen. Under the right circumstances, it is possible to corrupt the screen and/or freeze the game when the game attempts to give out an excessive amount of Pearls.

The enemy [[Pearl Dragon]] can also steal Starfy and Starly's Pearls. If too many Pearls are released when Starfy or Starly hit a Pearl Dragon, a slowdown can be noticed, however it appears to be impossible to freeze the game with a Pearl Dragon.

===[[Woktopus]] fire glitches===
If while using the [[Propeller Bit]] Starfy or Starly hits a fireball from a [[Woktopus]] with a carrot missile the 'hit' sound effect will be heard and the fireball will not turn into a flame as it touches a surface and will continue moving along it, until touching spikes or stopping near the left or right edge of the screen. The fireball will remain there until Starfy or Starly move it off the screen or when the room is reloaded (loading the [[Pause Menu]] and exiting does not count).

If a Woktopus flame is hit the 'hit' sound effect will play and the flame will remain there until moving it off the screen or when the room is reloaded (loading the Pause Menu and exiting does not count). This behavior is abnormal because normally flames should disappear after a short period of time. It is even possible to hit the fireball on the frame it is transforming into a flame, i.e. when a flame can be seen with a ball inside it that is on top of a large circular section of fire. Hitting it causes the 'hit' sound effect to play as before, and it can only be removed by the aforementioned methods.

===Fast [[Sand Tracer]] music bug===
When less than 30 seconds are remaining in the [[Minigames|minigame]] [[Sand Tracer]], the music will change to a fast version of the tune. If the player pauses the game and chooses 'Quit' after the fast version has started playing, the fast Sand Tracer tune will not stop and will play alongside the [[Minigames (music)|Minigames tune]] (the player is brought to the minigames selection screen as expected). The fast Sand Tracer music will still be playing if the player chooses to play all but one minigame or goes back to the "Play by Yourself", "Play with a Friend <Local Wireless>" and "Play with a Friend <DS Download Play>" screen. The music will stop if the player chooses [[Dumpling Master]], returns to [[Moe's Case]], returns to the [[File Selection|File Selection screen]], or enters the results screen, where in all four cases the expected music will replace the fast Sand Tracer music. Alternatively, powering off the game or soft-resetting will fix the music.

This bug does not occur with the fast versions of [[Depth Chargers]], [[Fishing Derby]] or Dumpling Master.

In ''The Legendary Starfy'', getting the forty-second note on [[Skydye Heights]] (Stage 6-4), known as "Ruby's Diary - "Still Looking"", typically requires [[Starfy]] as [[Roostar]] to jump on a [[Stangler]], reach a platform and then use Super Bugawk on the [[Lurchin]] to lift Starfy to the treasure chest.

As the platform is rather high, this typically requires the upgraded Roostar first to flutter higher in the air. The Super Bugawk is expected to enable the Stangler to lift Starfy higher, but due to an oversight, the player can alternatively get the note by continuously jumping in the air on top of the Stangler and performing Bugawk. This allows the Stangler to rise slightly each time. If the player lets the Stangler rise very high, Starfy should be able to make it to the treasure chest simply by jumping.

In the Japanese version of ''[[The Legendary Starfy]]'', solving it changes the music to [[Sogwood Forest]] until the player leaves the room. This may suggest that code to change the music to Sogwood Forest was copied over from the Moe's sibling quiz in Sogwood Forest, but unchanged.

In the North American version of ''The Legendary Starfy'', this curiosity does not occur, and the music changes to Skydye Heights.

===[[Snowmen]] building animation glitch===
This glitch is also known as 'black snowmen' by an individual who uploaded a video of it on [[wikipedia:Youtube|Youtube]], but the video is now unavailable. Prior to clearing the [[area]], at the start of [[Chillydip Cove]]'s area 4 (stage 3-4) if Starfy defeats a [[snowmen|snowman]], then runs up to about the top of the slope (but not to trigger the conversation with [[Puplion]]) and then returns to where the snowmen are, then the building animation may become glitchy, showing a snowman without a body in the second frame, and then a messed up 'black snowman' in the third frame. If Starfy defeats the snowmen again, the glitched up animation will happen for sure. This glitch does not work if the player returns to stage 3-4 after clearing it, probably because two extra snowmen appear where Bunston, Moe and Puplion used to be.

If the player creates a [[Suspend Save]] when a snowman has a glitchy animation frame, it will change to the equivalent normal animation frame when the game is reloaded, and Starfy will have to defeat a snowman/run up the hill again to get the glitch to work. Saving at the [[Mermaid]]'s shell and resetting the game will also force Starfy to perform the full steps of this glitch to get it to work again.

==Musical pause glitch==
This is a simple musical oversight in [[Sogwood Forest]]'s area 3 (Stage 4-3, The Papes Chase). When Papes is chasing Starfy at the end of the level, the music playing is [[Something Happens (music)|Something Happens]]. After Papes falls off of the slope and the conversation between Moe, Bunston and Starfy ends, the music will revert back to the normal Sogwood Forest theme. Pausing and unpausing the game will cause Something Happens to start playing again.
