Prior to the beginning of the game, Degil was smitten with the handsome Prince Coral of the Amiy Kingdom, but sadly for her, he was already in love with another. So in order to make him her husband and achieve her ambition of ruling the kingdom she took control of the Mon Amour Stone, the kingdom's source of power and used it to bring chaos to the land and gain ultimate power.

Despite her successful takeover of the kingdom, she was unaware that one of the castle maids, [[Mattel]], had escaped and fled to [[Pufftop]] where she sought the help of the legendary [[Starfy]] to save the kingdom. However, Degil soon found out about this plan and used her hoard of minions and powerful allies to crush Starfy and his friends. Starfy and his friends, nevertheless would end victorious. Degil's fate is ambiguous, and it is implied after the credits that after Degil was defeated, she may have shrunk in size and slithered the ground like a snake. Mattel and [[Prince Coral]] would eventually marry, heartbreaking both Starfy and Starly for a short time, as they had a crush on Mattel and Coral respectively.

==Battle strategy==
There are three phases to the battle with Degil.

'''Phase One:''' She will start off in her normal form, and all the player character has to do is to keep attacking her head while avoiding being attacked by her eggs, spiny body, poisonous roses, and being swallowed by her.

'''Phase Two: '''After defeating Degil once, the second phase has her swallow the player character, and Starfy or Starly must battle her from inside her mouth. She has a bunch of teeth sticking out, but one of them is a cavity, which is her weak point in this battle. The player character must [[Star Spin]] multiple times onto her cavity, but enemies and whirlwinds will prevent Starfy or Starly from getting to the cavity, and as she takes more damage, the pattern of enemies and whirlwinds will become more unpredictable.

'''Phase Three:''' To do this phase, the player must have gotten all 36 [[Answers Card]]s, then once the player defeats Degil's second form, they will be taken to [[King Tobira Majin]]. Once Starfy and Starly gives all 36 Answers Cards to King Tobira Majin, they will be taken to the final battle with Degil. The final form of Degil is her face, which consists of two layers, one of which is her damaged face. Starfy or Starly must keep attacking pieces of her face while avoiding blades coming from her hair, and being imprisoned in a crystal heart from Degil's kiss. After one part of her face has been destroyed, the player character will be teleported to the area of the Mon Amour Stone, which will attack Starfy or Starly with a bunch of hearts. After a while, the player character will be teleported back, and Starfy or Starly will have to continue destroying her face. If the player character wishes to reach the top of her head, Starfy or Starly must climb on Degil's hands and reach the area, but if he/she stays on the hand too long, he/she will take damage. After sustaining a certain amount of damage, Degil might teleport Starfy or Starly to the other side of the area, where he/she can collect 10 giant pink [[Pearl]]s to replenish the [[Spill|SP]] bar. She may also slowly regenerate pieces of her face, but Starfy or Starly can stop the regeneration by striking the designated area of regeneration. After breaking every part of her face, Degil is finally defeated.

===Attacks===
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8R5zu2OH1c In her first form], she attacks by spitting out eggs, then spitting out needles to break them and turn them into spikeballs that seemingly home in on Starfy or Starly. She also moves horizontally (and vertically if she is low on health) on the screen with her spiny body. Then she rotates her body for a short amount of time, trying to damage Starfy/Starly. She also spits out an array of roses and thorns. She also swallows Starfy/Starly, which is undodgeable, and tries to damage him through a slow process of digestion, but Starfy can escape by spinning wildly from the inside of her body.

In her second form, she mainly has enemies and whirlwinds as protectors of her cavity, but direct contact with the rest of her teeth can damage Starfy/Starly, and after the cavity takes enough damage, all the teeth will fall form Degil's gums and damage Starfy/Starly.

In her final form, she attacks by shooting blades from her hair. She also blows a kiss that sends out a heart that homes in on Starfy or Starly, and if it hits, he/she is trapped in a crystal heart which immobilizes spinning, [[swim]]ming, and [[jump]]ing. Also, when Starfy or Starly stays on Degil's hand for too long, she may attempt to pinch him/her. When low on health, she can teleport Starfy or Starly to the other side of the battle field. This doesn't damage him/her, but the spike balls on the sides will damage Starfy or Starly if he/she touches them, but there are also pink Pearls for Starfy to collect to replenish his SP bar. When on even lower health points, she will try to regenerate a piece of her face, which can be stopped if Starfy or Starly spins on the designated area of regeneration and knocks off the regeneration beads. After a piece of her face is destroyed, Starfy or Starly will be teleported to the Mon Amour Stone, where it will attack him with hearts, and the more pieces of Degil's face destroyed, the more speed the hearts will gain.

Note: At the beginning of each fight, Degil will let out a high pitched evil laugh. When a good amount of damage is taken, she will howl loudly in pain.

==Name origin==
*デ (de) may be from demon or devil. ジール (jīru) is similar to [[wiktionary:zeal|zeal]]; a word for great energy or enthusiasm to reach an objective, which in Degil's case would describe her enthusiasm to marry prince [[Coral]], stop Starfy and his friends and terrorize the [[Amiy Kingdom]]. The īru ending notably sounds like "[[wiktionary:eel|eel]]" as well. Degil's name could also be a play on the French expression [[wiktionary:de rigueur|de rigueur]]. It could also be based on the French word for desire “désir”, which is very similar to the Japanese pronunciation of Dejeel’s name.

He kidnaps her and says that she'll become his bride, but an incredibly angry Moe tries to stop him. Unfortunately for him, [[Fork|Fork and his brother]] come across a "tasty clam" and start to chase and bully him. Luckily, [[Starfy]], the fallen prince of [[Pufftop]], saw Moe being bullied, aided him (to his chagrin), and agreed to help him save Ruby. They then confronted and defeated Konk, allowing them to save Ruby

===Main Game===
Starfy and Moe encounter Ruby outside of her house in [[Gluglug Lagoon]], but Moe realizes that she seems down and asks her what the matter might be. She explains that {{PuchiOgura|2}} attacked her, and the twisters that they conjured up blew away some of Ruby's favorite furniture. Moe, furious at the Puchi Ogura, vows that he'll get Ruby's furniture back, while Starfy, on the other hand, doesn't seem to care. Moe yells at Starfy, saying that it's shameful to ignore those in need, and says that he'll have to go get her furniture back as punishment. Moe turns away and asks if Ruby would like to go on a date with him, to which she responds that she can't think about that while her furniture is missing, prompting Moe to rush Starfy to gather the three missing items. After retrieving her [[Vase of Roses]], [[Coral Table]], and [[Shell Chair|Seashell Chair]], she thanks Starfy for returning her and unlocks a door with a treasure chest behind it as a reward, inside of which is the [[Showy Showy Costume|Gaudy Garment]]. Moe tries to keep asking her about their date, but after she goes inside her home, he rushes on ahead through the newly unlocked door, clearly upset. During the events of the fourth stage of [[Ogura Castle|Ogura's Castle]], [[Ogura]] made an illusion of Ruby to lure Moe into a trap. After taunting him and leaving, Moe, seething with rage, tells Starfy to find 4 keys: the [[Diamond Key|Diamond]], [[Spade Key|Spade]], and [[Heart Key|Heart]] keys, to free him so he can "pay Ogura back for this 100-fold".

During the post game, if the player talks to Ruby, she wishes Starfy luck on finding the treasures strewn about the sea.

==In ''Densetsu no Starfy 3''==

===2-1===
Arriving at Ruby's house in [[Coral Coast]], Moe says that "her Moe" has arrived, but gets no answer and learns that there is no one inside. Starly asks who Ruby is before Moe corrects her by saying that she must refer to her as "Mr. Ruby" and that she is his future wife. After some squabbling, Starfy sees Ruby taking her luggage and entering through a door. However, Starly notices that she's dropped some of her belongings into some coral. Moe tells Starfy to pick up all her lost items (her [[Perfume (item)|Perfume]], [[Hand Mirror]], [[Compact Mirror]] and [[Necklace (item)|Necklace]]), so they can give them back to her. After retrieving all of her belongings and arriving at Ruby's new house, Moe introduces introducing Starly to her, and attempts to get her to thank them (or really, for her to thank him). However, much to Moe's disappointment, thanks the trio for getting her things back and gives Starly her old [[Densetsu no Starfy 2/Stuff#Accessories|Necklace]] as a reward.

===2-3===
Ruby appears again in the third stage of Coral Coast, where she wonders if [[Moe's Family]] are safe playing outside. He says that they are, since they have the key to get back to safety, which relives Ruby, saying that they'll be fine since they have the key and the password. Moe stops and asks about the password, as he had never heard of one before. Panicked, Moe begs Starfy to find his siblings and save them from the monsters on the outside. After saving Moe's baby brother, little sister, and little brother, he breaks down and apologizes for letting them be in harms way. He apologizes to Starfy and Starly, telling them that he'll have to stay behind and take care of his siblings instead of continue on their adventure. But Ruby offers to take his place instead.

===2-4===
In the final stage of Coral Coast, Ruby catches up to the trio, exclaiming that Ogura had flown overhead, summoning monsters that are currently rampaging throughout the area. One of these monsters, [[Buirun]] runs away from the group, and the trio hurriedly chase after him.

===Post-Game===
During the post game, if the player talks to Ruby, she tells Starfy or Starly to leave Moe's siblings to her and to punish the evildoers they come across.

==In ''Densetsu no Starfy 4''==

===4-1===
Ruby is found in [[Cupid Village]], explaining that she came to the village after hearing a strange rumor. She tells Starfy, Starly, and Moe that she heard that Cupid Village's treasured [[Cupid Bow and Arrow|Cupid's Bow and Arrow]] had been stolen and that [[Moe's Family|Moe's siblings]] were the culprits. Moe snaps out of his stupor for Ruby and yells that it couldn't have been them, then rushes off to confront [[Anju|the person who put up their wanted posters]].

===4-2===
After resolving the issue and returning to where Starfy and Starly initially talked to Ruby, they can't seem to find her. However, she creeps up to them, laughing eerily, and asks what the matter is. Moe runs up to Ruby(?) and starts to compliment her before demanding to know who this imposter is. Being found out, [[Akureima]] dispels his disguise and reveals that he has kidnapped the real Ruby. After saving her, she thanks Starfy, gives him the [[Fur Coat]] as a reward, and wishes the trio good luck on this dangerous adventure of theirs.

==Post-Game==
During the post game, if the player talks to Ruby, she comments on how nice Cupid Village is and considers moving there. Moe exuberantly asks if she's saying that she'll start a new life with him, but Starly tells him to calm down, and that no one said such a thing.

'''Wozart''' is a blue fish musician that appeared in the first four [[The Legendary Starfy (series)|''the Legendary Starfy'' series games]] and only had a story role in the first three. They usually play the [[Tone of Ocean (instrument)|Tone of Ocean]], but also play the [[Ocean Saxophone]] in ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 3]]''.

==In ''[[Densetsu no Starfy]]''==
[[Starfy]] and [[Moe]] meet Wozart in [[Deep Sea]] (Stage 5). Wozart and Moe both tell Starfy that Wozart's [[Tone of Ocean (song)|Tone of Ocean]] has been stolen. A flashback plays where Wozart shows Moe the Tone of Ocean only to have it stolen by [[Blantern]] and two [[Buranko]] after the stage turns dark. the Tone of Ocean is then hidden in a large side-scrolling room with arrow buttons which change the direction that the screen is scrolling when Starfy uses [[Star Spin]] on them, depending on the direction that the arrows are facing. After locating the missing Tone of Ocean instrument, Wozart badly plays [[Tone of Ocean (song)|the song of the same name]] (it is suspected that Wozart's Tone of Ocean is unfortunately a counterfeit and by a stroke of luck Starfy and Moe find the real one later). This shocks Starfy and Moe, but it also frightens off a pair of [[Nogo]] that were blocking Starfy and Moe's path.

Wotsaruto also appears in the background of the sound test after completion of the main game. Selecting any option on the sound test will show Wotsaruto playing the Tone of Ocean.

==In ''[[Densetsu no Starfy 2]]''==

===In [[Pitch Dark Cave]]===
[[Starfy]] and [[Moe]] meet Wozart again in [[Pitch Dark Cave]] (Stage 6-1), where Wozart talks to Moe. Wozart has a flashback, where the ground shakes and {{PuchiOgura|6}}, wearing a [[Kigurumi (boss)|Kigurumi]] appears and notices Wozart. The Puchi Ogura recognizes Wozart as a famous musician and asks them to compose him a theme song. After refusing, the Puchi Ogura gets angry, causing Wozart to run away. Later, in the present, the ground shakes and Puchi Ogura #6 wearing the Kigurumi appears in person. After a brief argument with Wozart, the Puchi Ogura snaps and kidnaps Wozart.

Starfy and Moe later catch up with Puchi Ogura #6. Puchi Ogura #6 talks to Wozart, modeling the song he wants Wozart to compose. Wozart, still refusing to compose, angers the Puchi Ogura who grabs and walks off with them. After catching up with Puchi Ogura #6 again, Moe intervenes and stops Puchi Ogura #6 from hurting Wozart. Moe offers to make, and even sing, a song for Puchi Ogura #6, which the Puchi Ogura allows. Moe begins to sing, causing the area to shake itself and rocks to fall from the ceiling. This frightens not only Starfy and Wozart, but also the Puchi Ogura. This causes the Kigurumi to deflate, revealing himself to Moe, Starfy, and Wozart. Seeing that his lies have been revealed, Puchi Ogura #6 flees, leaving behind a [[Key (Densetsu no Starfy 2 item)|Key]] which opens several keyholes around the area, one of which leads to the treasure chest containing the [[Densetsu no Starfy 2/Stuff#Clothes|Kombu Mawashi]] at the end of the Stage 6-1.

Starfy, [[Starly]], and Moe meet Wozart in the third stage of the [[Gabun Ocean Trench]], where they stop the trio from moving forward. They claim that before passing by [[Gabun]], it's common practice to put him to sleep first. They tell the trio to watch close as they play the Tone of Ocean, but Gabun stays wide awake, saying that they're tired of hearing the same song over and over, shocking the musician.

After Wozart's failure, Starfy suggests that if Gabun's tired of hearing the same song, they could just make a new one. Moe boldly offers to sing Gabun a lullaby, to which Starfy says not to, with Wozart agreeing and telling Moe that he's tone deaf. After Moe gets angry, Wozart gets an idea, and says that they heard that the Legendary Instruments (Japanese: でんせつのがっき) used by the "[[Legendary Band]]" (Japanese: でんせつのバンド) were buried somewhere around the area. Wozart leaves the trio to locate three legendary instruments: Starfy finds the [[Legendary Guitar]], Starly finds the [[Legendary Bass]], and together the siblings find the [[Legendary Drums]] (given to them by the original members of the band, [[Gekojii]], [[Gekyojii]], and [[Jiilacanth]], respectively). After meeting back up with Wozart, Starly and Moe claim that they're playing the bass and drums, respectively, so Wozart says that they'll play the guitar they recently bought. But Starly says that one of the Legendary Instruments is already a guitar and that Starfy is playing it. Wondering what they'll do with their guitar, Moe snatches it from them and says that it's their thanks for helping them out (and obtaining the [[Densetsu no Starfy 3/Stuff#Accessories|Guitar]] [[Stuff]] Item as a result). Wozart, flustered, then asks what instrument they'll play, to which Moe says that they can just play the Tone of Ocean. Wozart then says that it doesn't fit in with the others, which Starly says not to worry about. Telling Moe that it's up to him, the clam begins to do something to the Tone of Ocean, much to Wozart's horror. When he's finished, the Tone of Ocean becomes a saxophone called the [[Ocean Saxophone|Sax of the Ocean]] (Japanese: {{alttext|海のサックス|Umi no Sakkusu}}), which Wozart uses in the band (albeit hesitantly). He has a variety of attacks, including charging into Starfy with his talons and spawning several portals into the area. Touching his talons or body will cause Starfy to lose 17 or 18 health points. Since Starfy can't fly, he will have to rely on the use of Propeller Bit with a barrier, which allows Propeller Bit to sustain just as much damage as Starfy. However, Starfy won't be able to use any of his [[SP]] abilities including [[Monamu Heal]], and he will be limited to throwing carrot missiles in this fight.

When King Owlrun is in the middle of charging at Starfy or spawning a portal, he cannot be damaged. The portals each bring a [[Woktopus]] into the area before disappearing, which all must be defeated with a carrot missile otherwise King Owlrun will continuously not be able to get damaged. At lower health points, King Owlrun will move faster and spawn a larger number of portals at once. Each Woktopus will cause Starfy to lose 15 health points, and 10 health points if Starfy is unlucky enough to avoid its fireball projectiles.

King Owlrun will also attack by whipping up a tornado and aiming it towards Starfy, which King Owlrun will also be invincible at this time. The tornado can be repelled behind King Owlrun with several carrot missiles depending on how many health points King Owlrun has left. More carrot missiles are needed to repel it at lower health points. If Starfy can't repel the tornado in time, Starfy will take 10 damage. King Owlrun will occasionally fly in circular motion across the area, to make himself harder to hit.

As [[Starly]], she will also have to use Propeller Bit to defeat King Owlrun, and she will also not have access to any of her SP abilities as well including the invincibility of [[Pufftop Barrier]] and the healing powers of Monamu Heal.
