Japanese second-person pronouns, also known as nininshoudaimeishi (二人称代名詞) or simply ninshou (二人称) in Japanese, are a way for people in the real world to express themselves, as well as serving as an easy way to give insight into a fictional character's personality. The characters in Starfy use a wide variety of personal pronouns that relate to their personalities, mannerisms, and are also very hard to translate. As they are all equivalents of "You", it is very hard to translate the nuances of each one. This page serves as an explanation of these pronouns as well as a list of the characters that use them, by order of the game they debuted in. (This does not cover characters unique to any of the manga, or charcters who don't have relevance to the main story of the games, such as the 2-4P stars playable in the multiplayer minigames.)
Anata (貴方/あなた/アナタ)
Anata is one of the most common personal pronouns, and is closest to the English meaning of "You". It has no gendered connotations, but is considered more formal in many contexts. Characters who use anata don't usually have any particular quirks, but there are exceptions. At least in the Starfy series though, these characters tend to be nicer than most. The characters that use anata are:

Starfy 1: Mermaid, Ruby, Seahorse Mama, Moon, Lumi the Mirror, Kit Fish, Wozart, Dolfy, Dolchina and Dolshe, Miguana, Lalako, Aqua

Starfy 2: Puchi Ogura #4 (ice side), Korisu, Numan, Taiblond, Guidonna, Professoar, Bawss, Echigyoya

Starfy 3: Sgt. Hawky, Mamaus, Hirara

Starfy 4: Mattel, Runosaru, King Owlrun, Prince Coral, Ruskel, Rabiarty, The Gate of Illusion, The Gate of Truth

Starfy 5: Piplion

Prince Coral is a blue fish prince who appears in Densetsu no Starfy 4. He is the prince of the Amiy Kingdom. Both Starly and Degil were in love with him. In the story, he was chased by someone (possibly Degil or someone related to her) since the Mon Amour Stone was stolen, so he hid and used Kittana as a bodyguard. He appears in several locations around the Amiy Kingdom, including Hidden Village of Koimaro and Old Tower, as well as the Amiy Castle in the ending of the game.

He is one of the four sages. At Hidden Village of Koimaro, he teaches Starfy and Starly the Spill ability Magical Coin, provided that Starly is exposed to the light of the Random Flower. He then gives Starfy, Starly and Moe the Celebrity Clothes.

In the manga Densetsu no Starfy R, Coral resides in the Amiy Castle with Mattel.

spoiler<br>
At the end of the first ending, Coral reveals that Mattel is his fiancee, leaving both Starfy and Starly feeling shattered. They turn to stone with their mouths wide open, but this was ostensibly only put in by the developers to create a comedic effect and the effect was not permanent.

The fact that Mattel is already with someone leaves Starfy feeling depressed in his room after the event. Starly seemed to accept it, and Moe failed to make Starfy happy again, however, Starfy accepts it in time and continues his adventure with Starly and Moe to collect all the Answers Cards and truly defeat Degil. After Degil is defeated, Coral and Mattel get married and Mattel thanks everyone, in particular Starfy for his help in saving the Amiy Kingdom.

Trivia
*Coral uses the pronoun Anata in Japanese.
