Fat Cat (Namazudon in Japan) is a large cat fish dressed like a sumo wrestler who enjoys wrestling and going to hot springs with his daughter Kit Fish. He is also nicknamed the 'Masked Catfish' in The Legendary Starfy. He can be challenged in a wrestling match in The Legendary Starfy in a Side Quest called "The Masked Catfish" in Stage 6-2.

His first appearance was in Densetsu no Starfy. He does not appear in Densetsu no Starfy 4.

In Densetsu no Stafy
Starfy and Moe first meet him in this game while trying to save The Jellato Sisters in the Sea of Ice stage. Unfortunately, due in part to Moe's rough language, Fat Cat's tomboyish daughter Kit Fish does not trust either of them, thinking they're trying to give the information she has on the whereabouts of the Jellato Sisters to the bad guys, and runs away to hide, forcing the two of them to find his daughter for him. In the end, Moe manages to capture her before Starfy gets to her, but Kit Fish continues to refuses to speak, leading Fat Cat to scold her for her bad behavior. She continues to distrust Moe due to him "looking suspicous", but decides to tell Starfy what she knows. This leads to a secret passage being opened. Starfy and Fat Cat part ways after this, with Fat Cat wishing Starfy good luck.
Trivia
*In the first game there is a Japanese typo where Moe calls him Manazudon (マナズドン), probably by mistake as Kit Fish is Manazuko.

<pre>
</pre>

*This same typo is also present in the dialogue box when Fat Cat is talking (the part where his name is located).

Name Origin
*Their Japanese name, "Namazudon", is likely a portmanteau of "namazu" and "don".
**ナマズ Namazu is the Japanese word for catfish.
**ドン Don could possibly refer to one of the following:
***The ドン "don" at the end of their name could possibly refer to the Japanese onomatopoeia for a loud "thud" sound (in reference to the large size of this character).
***The "don" could also refer to the first person pronoun that Fat Cat/Namazudon uses in Japanese, おいどん oidon.
***ドン don is sometimes used as a polite suffix at the end of names in the southern Kyushu region of Japan. Fat Cat himself uses this suffix in Japanese to refer to Starfy on a few occasions, calling him スタフィーどん "Starfy-don", as well as some other characters.
***Finally, it could refer to the Spanish/Italian honorific prefix "don" used in names like "Don Quixote" as well as crime bosses of the Mafia (e.g. Don Corleone) - this word is sometimes used in Japanese to refer to any boss-like figure (not necessarily crime related).
Kit Fish (Manazūko in Japan) is a young female fish dressed like a kabuki dancer. She has small arms and an orange colored tail with a white underside. She is always seen in the company of her father Fat Cat and enjoys spending time at hot springs. She can sometimes have bad manners, but Fat Cat says she is more behaved than he was at her age.

In Densetsu no Stafy
Starfy and Moe first meet her accompanied by her father Fat Cat in this game while trying to save The Jellato Sisters in the Sea of Ice stage. They soon learn that she has an idea of where the sisters are, but she refuses to tell as she doesn't trust either of them, instead choosing to run away and hide. After they chase her for a bit, Moe manages to capture her before Starfy, but even after this she refuses to speak up. This leads to her father scolding her for her bad behavior. She continues to distrust Moe due to him "looking suspicious", but agrees to tell Starfy what she knows. This leads to a secret passage being opened, and the two groups separate.

Fat Cat and Kit Fish are introduced to Starfy and Moe at the Sea of Ice. Originally she believed Starfy was one of the bad guys, according to Fat Cat. This is referenced in the lyrics of Becky's version of the Title Song.

Trivia
*In each of the Game Boy Advance games, Kit Fish wears a hair pin shaped like the Latin Christian cross. In all versions of The Legendary Starfy, an additional piece was attached to the right end of the cross, making the pin appear more in the form of an elongated "H" shape than as a cross. This is probably a form of religious censorship.
In the end, Moe manages to capture her before Starfy gets to her, but Kit Fish continues to refuses to speak, leading Fat Cat to scold her for her bad behavior.
Welcome Starfish and thanks for your edit. RE: Fat Cat's Japanese name, I looked through the text dump and it seems Manazudon is one of the typos Moe makes. Checking the Picture Book/Trading Cards in Starfy 1-3 it's Namazudon. I haven't checked Japanese Starfy 5 but if I can relocate my copy will let you know if it's still Namazudon too. Torchickens (talk) 21:11, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
::Update: It's Namazudon is Japanese Starfy 5 too and can't find the typo there, anyway I've added the Starfy 1 Moe conversation that calls him Manazudon to the article, thanks! ^^. Torchickens (talk) 21:25, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
First of all, thanks for the welcome. Well, I'm glad I stumbled on new info. I'm actually new to the Starfy series (playing it anyway, I've known about it for nearly 15 years now... I'm old), and just happened to notice this while playing the game and looking up character bios here. Anyway, "namazu" is the Japanese word for cat fish, so the name "Namazudon" makes more sense. Starfish (talk) 04:41, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
::By the way, the typo doesn't just appear in Moe's dialogue but also appears in Fat Cat's dialogue box when he talks (the part of the box where it displays the character's name, not the dialogue itself) - this is actually where I saw the typo. It's a bit hard to find in the text dump you posted, but I was able to verify. Search for <red>マ<red>ナ<red>ズ<red>ド<red>ン<endname><line> and there appear to be five instances of this occurring - which may actually be every time he talks in the game, though I'm not 100% sure about this. </pre>
::Update: It's Namazudon is Japanese Starfy 5 too and can't find the typo there, anyway I've added the Starfy 1 Moe conversation that calls him Manazudon to the article, thanks! ^^.
