:::All right, I think I'll consider moving it, because I suppose its reference as "Mattel" in the manga is better than relying on [[wikipedia:Hepburn romanisation|Hepburn romanisation]] which often doesn't match up with official romaji. I tried searching the Japanese trademark database, but didn't have much luck finding it :( (though I couldn't even find many other Nintendo franchises on the website I tried). --[[User:Torchickens|Torchickens]] 15:29, 21 February 2012 (EST)

Mattel?

Mattel Card.jpg

In Chapter 12 of the Densetsu no Starfy R (it's about Starfy trying to live up a reputation as a gambler), there are some playing cards signed by Materu which say "Mattel" on them. I was unsure whether this was a good enough reason to move the page. I'm hesitant to do so because the katakana for Materu is "マテル", as referenced in the manga as well, and not the equivalent マッテル. I've heard that with Pokémon, many of the Japanese Pokémon names have official romanizations, for instance Blastoise is technically "Kamekkusu", although it's trademarked as "Kamex" which means that officially, it uses that name whenever its name is to be romanised (see also this).

Though in the case of "Mattel", I don't know if that's the official romanization or just a mistake on Nintendo/Shogakukan's behalf. I was wondering what the others were thinking about this? For reference, I've embedded a thumbnail of one of the cards. --Torchickens 21:29, 12 February 2012 (EST)
