*Echigyoya uses the pronoun Watashi in Japanese.
*Atsushi Echigyoya is a pseudonym of Atsushi Okamoto in the second version of the Densetsu no Starfy 2 Staff Credits.
*On page 111 in the Densetsu no Starfy 2 Nintendo Official Guidebooks, Echigyoya's sprite appears blue instead of red. This possibly means that Echigyoya used a different color palette prior to the release of the final game. A sprite of 10 has his body using a darker shade of blue as well.

Echigyoya is an old fish who serves under Puchi Ogura #10 and is the leader of the Chonmagyo. In Densetsu no Starfy 3 he uses Mijingou as bodyguards, who follow him as he promised that he would reward them.

He is a dishonest man, who 'borrowed' Pearls from Mantahan but never gave them back.

In Densetsu no Starfy 2

In Densetsu no Starfy 2, he is trying to dominate Torrent's Waterfall with Puchi Ogura #10 and attempted to attack Starfy using his spiked shuriken throwing clones.

In Densetsu no Starfy 3

In Densetsu no Starfy 3, Echigyoya borrowed Pearls from Mantahan but Mantahan never got them back. Mantahan then talked about taking treasure from a 'stupid prince', to which Starfy was not amused.

Starfy, Starly and Moe tried to get away from Mantahan, but Mantahan kept catching them up.

Moe told Mantahan to wait a little longer, and told him that he lent treasure to Echigyoya before. Moe then said that if Mantahan(?) lends him treasure, he will return a little more than twice as much. Moe asked Moon if he could borrow her mobile to call Echigyoya, and used it, but got a message saying that the phone number he called isn't currently used. Mantahan talks about treasure in the Jungle and Kabasonchou, the owner of the "sleeping treasure" cave.

Starfy, Starly and Moe find Kabasanchou. After they give him the Bear-san Rucksack, he gives Moe a Title Certificate that proves that he owns the cave. It would have cost 10000000 Pearls, but Mantahan supposedly paid for it.

Starfy, Starly, Moe and Mantahan find Echigyoya in the cave with the Mijingou. Echigyoya promised a reward to the Mijingou if they found treasure.

He attempted to stop Starfy again by having his fifteen Mijingou attack him, but Starfy easily defeated them. Then, Mantahan showed Echigyoya the Title Certificate that proved that Moe is the owner of the cave and argued that he cannot be doing things like entering the cave without Moe's permission and looking for treasure, even though Mantahan thinks he is the real owner of the treasure.

Starly discovers that Kyorozou is also here, with treasure, though he walked off through the boss door without collecting it. Mantahan says that he stole his treasure, but says that it's now Moe's responsibility to repossess it, so he collects it while Starfy fights the boss Enbiraru. It turns out that Echigyoya hired Enbiraru as a bodyguard, who thinks he will get half of the treasure.

Name Origin

 • Echigyoya's name most likely comes from Echigoya (越後屋), a popular name for stereotypical evil shopkeepers in period dramas, and gyo (魚), meaning fish.
