It cannot be defeated, but if the player uses the Roostar or Kigrumi ability on it, it will withdraw its spikes and can be used as a platform. Sometimes a gray Lurchin is seen in the Kigurumi instructions. They are similar to Barikku because they are also spiked enemies that can be used as platforms via Kigurumi.
