Starfy performing the Dance in Densetsu no Starfy 2, with fish in the background

The Dance (Japanese: ダンス) is one of Starfy and Starly's actions. After Starfy or Starly defeat a boss character and clear its stage, he/she look relieved and move near the middle of the screen. They then face the front of the screen and put on a large smile to show off this dance. While performing this dance, Starfy or Starly often hold a large grin on their face.

In all games except for Densetsu no Starfy, fish can be seen in the background when Starfy is dancing, although in The Legendary Starfy, only a few red fish are seen near the left corner of the screen. In Densetsu no Starfy 2, there is a one in ten chance that Moe's siblings will appear in the background instead of the fish. [1]


Starfy and Starly's dance moves

After the dance, Starfy or Starly swim towards the front of the screen forming the path of a stretched 'C'. They then raise their right arm and put on a wider grin.

In the Game Boy Advance games, Starfy and Starly wink with their left eye after the dance. They never seem to wink in Densetsu no Starfy 4 and The Legendary Starfy.

In The Legendary Starfy's Team Play mode, it's Starfy (the host) who does the dance.

Below are Starfy and Starly's dance steps.


Densetsu no Starfy

  1. Face the front, duck down on the 'knees'.
  2. Stand up, facing the right. Lean to the right. Keep the left leg behind. Stretch the right arm diagonally upwards.
  3. Step down, then repeat Step 2. |
  4. Step down, facing the front, then duck on the 'knees'. | |
  5. Stand up, facing the left. Lean to the left. Keep the right leg behind. Stretch the left arm diagonally upwards.
  6. Step down, then repeat Step 5. |
  7. Step down, turn to the front. Lean to the right. Keep the left leg behind and do a wide clap to the right. (A star appears out of the clap) |
  8. Relax the hands and step down, facing the front. Lean to the left. Keep the left leg in the air and do a wide clap to the right. (A star appears out of the clap) | |

Noticeable differences to the first Densetsu no Starfy:

  • The color was improved. (as was different parts of the game [2])
  • Starfy does a backflip straight after Step 1: ducking down on the knees.


Densetsu no Starfy 3

Starfy

  1. Face the front, duck down on the 'knees'
  2. Stand up, facing the right. Lean to the right. Keep the left leg behind. Stretch the right arm diagonally upwards

These are almost the same steps from the first Densetsu no Starfy. The last posture of Starfy standing () from Step 14 is missing. The same colors are used from Densetsu no Starfy 2.

Starly
